Has anyone been to the newly opened Cuban Revolution?  I've been following the story about them for awhile and am really looking forward to going.  It seemed strange for a Rhode Island restaurant to open down here, but the location and size of the space at American Tobacco seemed ideal.  The menu items looked tasty and well the only Cuban place I've been to is Carmen's over in Morrisville (had the ropa vieja and a Cuban sandwich).

Now I wonder when that steakhouse will open…

We will have a review up in a couple of days.  We checked it out briefly, but haven't yet had the food.  The space itself seems pretty cool.

We had dinner there before a Bulls game Thurs night. Some general thoughts:

- They split their menu between tapas, sandwiches and entrees

- Reasonable beer selection, but I don't think there is anything on tap

- Many of the ingredients were what I might expect to find at a budget Mexican restaurant (e.g., iceberg lettuce and Calif. tomatoes). Not quite what I was expecting for the price

- I had some tapas that were OK but pricey.

- My wife had the entree ropa vieja which was generous and good.

- Loud but a good mix of music for me (AAA 80's)

- Wait staff still working out some cinks but very pleasant.

- Inside and outside seating.

My family and I are always looking for a decent meal in the Bull city.  We tried the Cuban Revolution on July 4th for lunch.  I was pinning for a cuban sandwich after really enjoying one at the Taste Of Durham.  I was not impressed with the food.  Hubby had what was labeled as the World's Best Steak Sandwich….Not!  My daughter had the Mandarin Orange Salad which she said was good.  Over all the best part of lunch was the Mojitos.  Perhaps as my Grandma would say we need to wait til there pots are seasoned a little bit more.
