Hey everyone, I am wondering if you all have suggestions of specific places or types of establishments (dive, Italian, taco stand, whatever) you would like to see more of on Carpe Durham. There's definitely been a call for more small eateries, hidden gem types since these haven't got quite as much coverage since CD's founders left us *cry*, but do you have any specific spots you've love to see reviewed, whether you've eaten there or not? I love to try new places, it just happens that those new places have been mostly upscale establishments of late and I'm happy to switch that up. Only catch, it needs to be a spot that has not already been reviewed (check the list of reviewed places). Leave suggestions below!

You know, surprisingly no one has reviewed Pop's or Pop's Backdoor (independently or together) on here…that might be something.
also I havent seen a rundown of pub eateries in a while, for instance, does James Joyce still do food?

Ya, I wonder what happened to that new chef/menu Joyce was getting.

I think Pop's will definitely be good to review once they move to their new location. I do have a review on my blog site for them from March, if anyone's interested. Someone could do Pop's Backdoor, too!

How about Sansui, at the 54/55 interchange? It recently opened after remodeling the interior of a defunct restaurant and has a convenient SW Durham location for RTP workers. We've been there a couple of times and have liked it. Like Shiki Sushi, Sansui also offers 2 for 1 rolls. Unlike Shiki Sushi, you can actaully enjoy a conversation with your dining companion in Sansui's facility.

Spoiled rotten seafood hound.

Hmm, interesting. Perhaps I can convince my friend who's been craving Shiki to go there instead soon . . .

I had a meal at The Clay Pit near 54/55 interestion that made me think it had promise. It bills itself as a Med/ME and Indo/Pak/Bangladeshi food place.

Has anyone heard anything about the Brathaus on 15-501? I just saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and wondered (a) how I've been missing it for the last 7 years, or (b) whether it's new.

Evidently the new Durham location is now open. There are already a few comments about it on Yelp.

Apparently people on another forum gave me the impression that Brathaus is overpriced junk. Time will tell. Speaking personally, I wasn't all that impressed with Pop's.

I wouldn't call the Cary Brathaus "junk," but I would call it overpriced. The food was quite good, though, just cost too much.
Clay Pit, I think I'll be seeing you soon.
