And by “hiring” I mean we are still actively seeking volunteers to spend their valuable time contributing to Carpe Durham and help keep this community alive. We are grateful to our existing community contributors, but would like to add several more to increase the posting volume. In particular, we hope people that are interested in exploring the cheaper dining options will get involved. Please contact us if you are interested. We have long felt that the user comments are the most valuable part of Carpe Durham. Because we did not want to discourage participation, when we redesigned the site to include user registration, we left anonymous commenting enabled. That being said, we recognize that comments on the Internet have the potential to greatly impact (for better or worse) the reputation of local businesses. To balance accountability and anonymity, within the next few days we plan to implement a new feature displaying the IP address of those users commenting without a …

Welcome to the new Carpe Durham! As many of you know, we have graduated law school and will, unfortunately, be relocating out of the area. While we plan to visit frequently and continue to review when we do, we decided to make some changes to try and make the site more community driven. To implement some new features, we migrated off of wordpress.com and onto our own dedicated server.

Change is coming, and that’s not just an empty slogan. We have outgrown wordpress.com’s free hosting and will be migrating to a new provider. We are using the migration as an opportunity to roll out many new oft-requested features, and a couple that we’ve “cooked up” on our own. Har har. Expect to see some action within a week.
In the meantime, please update your bookmarks and RSS feeds to point to carpedurham.com instead of carpedurham.wordpress.com.
