After this past weekend’s grand opening (which they estimate some 3,000 people attended), if you haven’t been to Ponysaurus’ new taproom/brewery, then you know about it. Located between downtown and Golden Belt, Ponysaurus has tons of outdoor seating and a large lawn that is sure to become a favorite Durham hang spot. They also already have a regular schedule of food trucks outside every night – currently American Meltdown is Wednesdays, Pie Pushers Thursdays, and Sympathy for the Deli on Fridays.

The night we stopped in they had six or so of their own beers on tap (a Scottish Ale, a Saison, a stout, a rye pale ale, an India pale ale and a reserve) and there guest taps (Bull City Ciderworks’ Off Main, Haw River’s Oatmeal and Fullsteam’s Pilsner).

It’s certainly quite a step up from their spot in the Cookery that was only accessible via a forklift. We recommend hitting up Ponysaurus then strolling over to Bull City Ciderworks, which is just around the corner, before they move to their new location next year.
