Triangle Pint & Plate

Posted by DID 26 Nov 2013 No Comments

We stopped by the new taproom, Triangle Pint & Plate, from the folks at Triangle Brewery this past Friday night.

Packed on its first weekend in business, Triangle Pint & Plate is, of course, offering up a wide selection of Triangle Brewery beers on tap (other beers available in bottles/cans) and a few wines by the glass. Until they start serving food, Triangle Pint & Plate does require a dollar membership card (the plate part of the name is set to come early next year).

We’ve long lamented the loss of our beloved Down Under Pub (the uber friendly Crystal, the questionable clientale, the wings, that infamous peanut butter bacon burger) and always held a bit of a grudge (even if unwarranted) against the Roxy and its fancy cocktails. Despite keeping much of the same décor and furniture, Triangle Pint & Plate manages to feel much more welcoming and relaxed. There are bowls of pretzels, 10 Triangle Brewing Co. brews on tap and friendly table service.

The Down Unders’ row of high top tables along the wall are back and, if I’m not mistaken, I spotted a few of the Down Unders’ regulars at the bar. The only thing missing is a juke box. Triangle Pint & Plate is a welcome neighborhood watering hole.

Note: Their Facebook page says cash only, but we had no trouble using cards.
