Monuts Donuts Store Front
We’ve already covered Monuts Donuts and their tasty treats here, but wanted to do a quick post on their new store front. With homemade bunting, chalkboards, community-collected mugs and exposed lighting – the new Monuts store is a lovely little spot just across the street from Bull City Burgers and Brewery on Parrish Street downtown. It’s sure to soon be a Durham favorite.
The new shop offers a wide selection of Monut’s beloved doughnuts (previously available by bike and pre-order), a selection of house-made bagels, bagel sandwiches (eggs/tomato/spinach/etc.) and house-made English muffins. We ordered two bagels (sesame) and two doughnuts (almond and toasted coconut) to share. Everything was fresh and delicious. Monuts is serving up Counter Culture brew and it’s worth noting that the day we stopped in, they were offering heavy cream instead of half ‘n half.
On a Sunday, the line wasn’t long and the service was fast and friendly. It goes without saying that it is great to have fresh bagels and doughnuts in downtown Durham.

The bagels aren’t whatchacall perfectly formed — the donuts either — but they’re super tasty no matter what they look like. Nice bite on the outside and soft on the inside. Been to the Monuts store twice now and had great stuff both times.

I have been twice now and that bacon bourbon maple glazed donut is amazing. It tastes like a salty pretzel and is incredibly delicious. My only lament is that it was not open sooner. I am moving to Greenville with my fiance for her to go to PA school. We are planning on moving back after she finishes, but until we do, I will have to stop at all my favorite spots in Durham every time i come back in to town. I can only hope that Downtown continues to expand. As a professional restaurant chef, it makes me so excited to see what is happening here! Welcome Monuts and thank you for a damn good donut.

Love monuts. Bagels are soft on the inside, crusty on the outside and by far the best available in the Triangle. Have to confess I like the donuts better than Rise’s … but it’s really just a matter of taste – I like that Monuts are a little less sweet/lighter touch on frosting and glazes – but know plenty of folks who have called it for Rise hands down. Monuts keeps the line moving – even when it’s backed up to the door. Would be great if they would steal a few best practices from their friends in south durham – add an express line for folks who just want to grab donuts (or bagels) without any prepared foods, and a self serve coffee station?
