Durham Craftworks

Posted by DID 15 Feb 2013 5 Comments

Not food related but definitely Durham-centric, there’s a new gift shop downtown that focuses on local, handmade goods. Just across the street from Loaf and the Carrack, Durham Craftworks is like a mini version of the annual Rock & Shop event. It’s a small space chock full of cool.

Durham Craftwork’s mission:
To create a retail space in which local craft artists have the opportunity to shard their handmade work and talent with the community. We are committed to serving local craft artists in an effort to enrich the creative community and showcase local talent.

It’s THE spot to find all of your various Durham love tees, handcrafted hip jewelry, vintage clothes, super cool prints, kid’s items, unique art and various other collectibles, treasures and gifts. It’s a great addition to downtown Durham. These pictures don’t do it justice – go, support, shop.

Durham Craftworks
104 W. Parrish Street
Tue – Fri: 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Sat: 11:00 am – 8:00 pm

Hooray for local artisans having another place to sell their wares! Just a note, this place is not affiliated with The Rock & Shop Market but we’ll be happy to support it!

Went to Parrish st yesterday to find craft works to get a birthday gift for a friend…and it’s gone! What happened? On another note, I did end up at monuts donuts, which just opened and it was awesome.

Thanks so much for the shout out to Craftworks! Unfortunately after only 3 months open, a confluence of circumstances led the owners to the decision to close. It was a lovely shop (Hank and Jess did an awesome job with the space)and the people who did get a chance to come through were really excited about it. I wished I’d had the resources to take up the reins and keep it going -because I really loved that lil’ place- but the idea’s so good I feel like it will manifest again at some point.

You should reopen. Look at using the startmeup feature that Cocoa Cinnamon used and open down there near nomadic trading off foster. Your store was great and you should consider reopening and advertising a bit more…
