6th Annual Empty Bowls
It’s time again for the annual Urban Ministries of Durham Empty Bowls fundraiser – only this year the planning crew has upped the ante with a food truck rodeo afterparty at Fullsteam.
This year’s event will be held on March 8, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm at the Armory. Eleven restaurants will donate their time and serve up various concoctions in the hopes of winning the “best soup in Durham.” Counter Culture is donating coffee and the following restaurants are participating:
Guglhupf
Revolution
L’Uva
Papa Mojo’s
Thrills from the Grill
Watts Grocery
Blu Seafood
Whole Foods
Toast
Saladelia Cafe
Mad Hatter Café and Bakeshop
The afterparty at Fullsteam will have some of Durham’s best food trucks:
Pie Pushers
Will & Pops
The Parlour
Chirba Chirba
Klausie’s Pizza
Only Burger
Farmhand Foods Sausage Wagon
Trucks will be ready to serve starting at 7:30 pm and each truck is creating a special dish for the evening that will fit in a bowl. All of the trucks, as well as Fullsteam, are donating 10% of their proceeds that night to the event. Pretty cool, eh?
Tickets for the Armory event are $30 for soup with a pottery bowl to take home or $15 for just soup. The afterparty at Fullsteam is free. We at Carpe Durham will be giving away two tickets via twitter in the next few weeks.
