If you’ve ever read this blog before, you know we’re kinda enamored with taco trucks, and especially with one in particular: Benito’s (aka the Sabor Latino truck). A couple of months ago he left his old spot in North Durham and recently found a new home closer to downtown: near the corner of N. Roxboro and Avondale (across from Los Comales, next to a billiards place). He’s there on Thursday through Sunday nights, from about 9pm to 3am. Everything I’ve eaten from his truck (which is quite a lot) has been delicious–even the chicken is something special, and you really have to try one of his quesadillas even if you’re usually a taco person.

billiards place? like where the dry cleaner is?

Yeah. Near where “Jose Jr. Records” used to be. Oddly enough, I knew that place had a beer license, but I always thought it was an actual music store.

I haven’t eaten at the Sabor Latino truck, but I’m anxious to find out if its offerings can best those of Taqueria Rubio (aka the “Taco Bus” on Hillsborough St.), which is my top choice in mobile taco purveyors.

It absolutely beats the taco bus. Though, of course, there is great novelty in having tacos, not only from a mobile establishment, but a school bus. That was a great business plan on their part.

He wasn’t there this past weekend!

The Healthy Back Bag is everything they say it is: Comfortable, roomy, well-organized, and secure. It was a pleasure doing business with ecanvasbags; my purchase actually arrived two days ahead of schedule!
