Luther’s (Catering and Beyond)

Posted by RPP 6 Mar 2008 3 Comments

Now open with new management and a new attitude! It used to be “Food to Go” and then was really briefly the “East Campus Grill,” but I’d never been until it became “Luther’s Catering and Beyond.” (The website doesn’t mention this location, which is at Markham and Broad, right by Siren’s.) It has a pretty standard menu (burgers, hot dogs, bbq sandwiches, hushpuppies). There are much better places around here to get a barbecue sandwich, but the burger was really good. And it’s so charming!

And while you’re there, you really have to go to Books Do Furnish a Room, which is the little blue shack that I drove by every day for 2 years before I noticed it, and then another 2 years before I managed to go inside. It’s a great used bookstore, also with a pretty big comic/graphic novel section and some used music. Also charming.

i fully agree! i pass by this place on my way to work almost every morning and i can’t help but treat myself to one of their cheeseburgers every now and then! after the joe & jo’s burger left town, it’s been one of the best i’ve been able to find that comes close to replacing it.

plus the family that runs it is awesome. if you catch it in the right season, you can buy girl scout cookies from one of the owners’ daughters!

Girl Scout cookies are pretty darn good — when do those go on sale?
